Artist Statement
I have been involved in jewelry making and a personal study of adornment for over forty years. My jewelry reflects NEW/PRIMITIVE, a mixture of contemporary and ethnic flavors.
My art is inspired by the forces and elements in nature and is increasingly a response to the fragile state of Mother Earth and Humanity. The works of ancient Egypt, and my travels to Senegal and Bali to study dance and percussion also inspire me.
Whether it is jewelry adornment, or a BeadScene reflecting the current times, the process will start from a moment with nature to cleanse my mental and spiritual palette. I then start thinking about colors, materials and technique. The idea will take me where it wants to go. Having such a broad interest in materials gives me the opportunity to build all One of a Kind works.
